Know Your Worth is a Beyond the Treatment resource by Jas Hands. This notice describes the current device-saving version of the calculator, not a future account-based service.
You may enter rent, other business expenses, desired earnings, working hours, product prices and quantities, treatment names, prices, appointment volumes and product usage. The calculator does not ask you to enter customer names, bank details or passwords. Please avoid putting personal information about your clients into treatment names or other entries.
The calculator saves the information you enter using your browser's local storage on this device. It does not currently offer user accounts or a cloud database, and the calculator's own code does not send your entered pricing information to Jas Hands. Your hosting provider may separately process technical information, such as IP addresses and access logs, when you visit a hosted website.
Local browser data may remain until you delete it, clear site data or use another browser/device. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to view your saved entries. Private browsing and browser settings may prevent saving.
Download backup creates a JSON file containing your entries. Keep it somewhere private: anyone with that file may be able to read its contents. Restore backup imports a file you choose into this browser. Delete saved entries clears the calculator's saved browser data on this device and resets the form. It cannot delete backup files you downloaded or data held by third-party providers.
This version uses browser storage to remember your calculator entries. It does not itself include advertising trackers or analytics cookies. A website host, Beacons checkout, or other services you later connect may have their own privacy notices and storage technologies. Purchases made through Beacons are governed by the checkout information presented there. If customer accounts and cloud saving are introduced, this notice must be updated before launch to describe those data flows, providers, legal bases, retention periods, international transfers and your rights.
Before public launch: Jas Hands must publish a complete privacy notice with the business's full contact details, applicable lawful bases, data retention periods, service providers, data rights and complaint information. This in-app explanation does not replace that notice or establish UK GDPR compliance.
For UK guidance, see the Information Commissioner's Office privacy notice guide.

Rent for your salon, workspace or treatment room. If you don't pay rent, enter £0.
Include insurance, utilities (water and electricity), software such as booking systems and marketing tools. Divide annual bills by 12.
Include all time spent on treatments, cleaning, bookings, ordering stock and admin. No need to enter these separately.
For people aged 21+, the UK National Living Wage is £12.71 per hour from April 2026. This is an illustrative benchmark, not a legal minimum for self-employed professionals, and does not include holiday pay, pension or other employment benefits.
You can still choose a higher goal. Your goal is before personal tax and National Insurance, but after business expenses.
Don't include treatment products here. You'll calculate those on the next screen.
Add the products and disposables you use. For each product, enter what you pay for the pack and how many units it contains.
Nail files: £5 for 10 files = 50p per file.
Gloves: £6 for 100 individual gloves = 6p per glove, so a pair costs 12p.
Builder gel: £15 for 15ml = £1 per ml. Using 0.5ml costs 50p.
Keep the units consistent: count gloves individually, gel in ml, powders in grams, and so on.
Many brands publish a guide showing roughly how many applications you can expect from a bottle or pot. It's a useful starting point, but your own usage may be different.
Longer nails, larger nail plates, thicker overlays and different techniques can use more gel. To estimate your average, record how many complete treatments you get from a bottle or pot, then divide its volume by that number.
Example: A 15ml bottle lasting 20 treatments means an average of 0.75ml per treatment. At £15 per bottle, that's 75p per treatment.
Track several bottles over time and consider separate treatment types for short and long nails. Account for waste and product left in containers when reviewing your costs.
Add each service, then enter how many units of each product you use during that treatment. Average treatments per month means how often you perform this particular service, not your total bookings.
Money remaining is calculated after the business expenses you entered, but before personal tax and National Insurance.
Based on your projected monthly sales after the business costs entered, before personal tax. We divide by your total chosen monthly working hours, including admin and cleaning, not just treatment hours.
Use this to see what would happen if you increased every treatment by the same amount. You can also try a different increase for each treatment in the price breakdown below.
Assumes appointment volumes, product costs and hours remain the same. This is a scenario, not guaranteed earnings.
Choose what percentage of positive business surplus you would like to set aside for personal tax and National Insurance. This is a savings scenario, not a tax calculation. Your actual bill depends on your total annual income, other employment, allowances and circumstances.
See what you spend on products for each treatment, what you currently charge, and a calculated price that could help you reach your one shared monthly earnings goal across all treatments. The calculation distributes your monthly business expenses and earnings goal across the time spent on your full treatment menu. It is not a recommendation to lower prices. Your skill, demand, training, savings for future investment and other unentered costs matter too.
Figures exclude personal tax, VAT where applicable, holiday/sick pay and costs you haven't entered. Surplus means sales less the business costs entered, before personal tax.
